Motanka dolls are the heart of Ukrainian tradition. Usually a woman and always faceless, the Motanka doll represents the spirit of the home and the continuity of life. My Motanka is made with white satin embroidered cloth, ribbons, and a handmade Ukrainian wreath. It is a talisman of well-being. Her name is Myroslava, which means Peace and Glory in English, and she represents the rich cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people. I created this doll from scratch in the traditional Ukrainian colors of blue and yellow. The outfit is a modern design, with embroidered wheat and a matching handmade wreath. The doll is suitable for both display and gentle handled.

Why not make a face?
Our ancestors did not make Motanka faces, because they believed that negative energy could enter the doll through the eyes. At the same time, since the motanka is supposed to protect a person and his home, they either did not make their face at all, or they wove a solar cross - a sacred sign of love, prosperity and luck.
